A wind gust of 42 knots...48 mph...was measured at a Weatherflow automated station at the U.S. Coast Guard Station Key West.
Wider weather episode
A strong outflow boundary eminating from strong thunderstorms over the southeast Gulf of Mexico became the focus of new thunderstorm development across the Florida Keys. Gale force wind gusts occurred at several locations as the thunderstorms moved toward the east, sweeping across the length of the Florida Keys.
