What EF0 means. On the Enhanced Fujita scale, EF0 is light damage: shingles and siding peeled, gutters torn, branches broken, consistent with estimated gusts of 65–85 mph. The rating comes from a survey of the worst damage after the storm, not from a wind measurement, so it says as much about what the tornado hit as about how strong it was.

What the National Weather Service wrote

The same supercell that spawned the tornado that struck Elton produced another brief tornado that damaged a barn on Robert Sonnier Lane, approximately 6 miles north of Elton. Area residents reported the damage to KPLC-TV.

The wider storm

A line of strong to severe thunderstorms developed along a cold front and moved eastward across southwest Louisiana during the late morning and afternoon hours. Ahead of the line, numerous supercells developed across the northern Gulf of Mexico and moved northward across the area. Two of the supercells spawned a total of 6 tornadoes, while several reports of damaging winds were received with the line of storms. All of these storms combined to produce widespread heavy rainfall and flash flooding across the entire area.

Began near Oberlin (30.5757, -92.6834).
