Winter Weather — Northern Wayne, Pennsylvania

2009-10-15 to 2009-10-16 · Northern Wayne, Pennsylvania

Event narrative

Two to four inches of snow was reported across the higher elevations of the county.

Wider weather episode

An upper level disturbance, in combination with a low pressure system moving up the Atlantic coast brought the first snow of the season to northeast Pennsylvania. While mainly rain, or a mixture of rain and snow fell in the valleys, snow fell at the higher elevations, where about 2 to 5 inches of accumulation was common. This storm produced the earliest measurable snow of any winter season on record in many places.
