Event narrative

A waterspout was observed one to one and a half miles south of Key Colony Beach. The waterspout became mature with a full spray ring visible by 0846 AM EST and drifted towards the east.

Wider weather episode

As a strong cold front approached the Florida Keys from the northwest, several waterspouts developed in association with showers and thunderstorms developing in advance of the front.
