A trained weather spotter observed a waterspout about one mile north of Grassy Key. The condensation funnel extended halfway between the cloud base and water surface.

Wider weather episode

As a strong cold front approached the Florida Keys from the northwest, several waterspouts developed in association with showers and thunderstorms developing in advance of the front.
