Wind speed is estimated from the analysis and surrounding observations due to the lack of data in the Copper River Delta.

Wider weather episode

A strong low in the Gulf of Alaska combined with deep cold arctic air over the interior of Alaska produced strong gap wind through the Chugach Mountains. High wind in the Palmer Wasilla area caused significant damage.
