Snow totals reported in the southern Sacramento Mountains included 30 inches in Cloudcroft, 24 inches approximately 9 miles east of Cloudcroft and 9.3 inches in Sunspot.
Wider weather episode
A strong upper low moved into northern Mexico allowing cold air to move into southern New Mexico. Northeast upslope flow over the Sacramento Mountains allowed for some areas to receive over 2 feet of snow. Lower totals were reported in the lowlands.
