Event narrative
A persistent onshore flow generated seas of 6 to 8 feet over the near shore coastal waters. A 20 foot boat capsized around 800 am EST on January 24 near the mouth of St. Lucie Inlet. Two men were rescued by another boat, but one of the men died before reaching shore. The second man was treated and released from a local hospital. Neither man was wearing a life jacket.
