Idaho Mountain Express reported that a young man died in an avalanche while snowmobiling at Rock Lake in the French Creek drainage outside of Cascade, Idaho.

A strong winter storm with a significant Pacific moisture tap moved into the Intermountain West spreading heavy, wet snow across parts of Southeast Oregon and Southwest Idaho on the 15th and 16th of December.
