Winter Weather — Greater Greenville, South Carolina

2009-12-18 · Greater Greenville, South Carolina

Wider weather episode

A mix of rain, sleet, and snow developed across the extreme northern part of South Carolina around sunrise, and gradually spread east along the I-85 corridor throughout the morning. Measurable snowfall occurred in areas along/north of the North Carolina border, where as much as 3 inches fell. Light accumulations of sleet occurred in areas further south. Although the precipitation changed to mainly rain during the afternoon, temperatures that hovered right around freezing allowed for some light ice accretion to occur on elevated surfaces.
