A fatality occurred due to black ice. The fatal accident occurred at the intersection of Mastic Road and Herkimer Street in Mastic at 645 am on Monday December 7th.
Wider weather episode
Residual water puddles from heavy rain that occurred on Saturday the 5th resulted in slick roads as the puddles froze and frost developed on area roadways. This resulted in a thin layer of ice.
