The buoy measured a wind gust to 59 mph. Also of note was a pressure drop of 11 mb in less than 2 hours around 550 pm that afternoon.

Wider weather episode

A surface low tracked eastward from the Gulf of Mexico with a surface warm front extending toward the southern Florida peninsula. Cold air was in place across the area as well as deep moisture. An upper level short wave trough approached the area from the west. Strong marine non-thunderstorm wind gusts were reported at buoy 41012 mainly due to strong pressure rises.
