A trained weather spotter in the Cayucos area reported wind gusts to 50 knots associated with a thunderstorm that moved onshore.
Wider weather episode
A series of strong winter storm brought unstable conditions across the coastal waters. With the unstable atmosphere, several thunderstorms developed which produced very gusty winds and weak waterspouts.
