Event narrative

A thunderstorm produced a weak waterspout across the Santa Barbara Channel just south of the community of Isla Vista. This waterspout did come onshore and produced some weak tornado damage further inland.

Wider weather episode

A series of strong winter storm brought unstable conditions across the coastal waters. With the unstable atmosphere, several thunderstorms developed which produced very gusty winds and weak waterspouts.
