Ocracoke ferry office estimated water levels rose 3 to 4 feet above normal during the late evening hours.

Wider weather episode

Low pressure rapidly deepened just north of eastern North Carolina February 10th 2010. As the low deepened, strong west winds developed over the region. These strong winds increased water levels over the eastern portion of the Albemarle and Pamlico Sounds and produced moderate coastal flooding over portions of Hatteras Island.
