Event narrative

A homeless man was found dead near Young Circle in Hollywood, likely as a result of hypothermia. Temperatures dropped into the upper 30s to lower 40s across southeast Florida, with wind chills as low as the lower 30s.

Wider weather episode

A strong arctic cold front moved through south Florida late on January 1. This ushered in a period of much below normal temperatures which lasted through January 7th. This was the first of two periods of much below normal temperatures which impacted south Florida during January 2010.
