Snowfall accumulations of 8 to 10 inches were reported across the county.

Two people were killed (indirect) on Interstate 81 when a tractor trailer jackknifed into a minivan that was pulled over on the side of the road.

Wider weather episode

A strong low pressure system moved from the Gulf Coast to off the North Carolina coast. A secondary low moved west of Virginia over Kentucky, bringing a nose of warm air in aloft. This led to a mixture of snow, sleet, freezing rain, and rain across southwest Virginia, with many areas seeing significant snow or ice accumulations.
