A west-northwest wind gust of 37 knots (43 mph) was measured at a Weatherflow automated station on Upper Matecumbe Key.

A fast-moving squall line moved east across the Florida Keys as a deepening low pressure system moved from the southeast Gulf of Mexico to the western North Atlantic east of the Florida Peninsula. Numerous gale-force and isolated storm-force wind gusts were observed.
