A mesonet observation reported a peak gust of 84 MPH 43 miles east of Truth or Consequences, NM at Salinas Peak. Other observations included 63 MPH 39 miles east-northeast of Truth or Consequences, NM, and 59 MPH at a location 29 miles west of Tularosa, NM.
Wider weather episode
A strong cold front associated with a digging trough moving out of the Great Basin swept across the region producing high winds across much of southern New Mexico.
