Event narrative

Four waterspouts were observed extending at least one quarter of the way down from cloud base in the Gulf of Mexico waters 5 miles north northwest of Key West. One funnel cloud was broad in width, while the remainder were narrow. The waterspouts moved quickly toward the southwest at approximately 15 knots.

Wider weather episode

An active cumulus line with attendant showers over the Lower Florida Keys produced multiple waterspouts in the Gulf of Mexico waters just north of Key West.
