Event narrative

A tree on CR 400 S and 600 W fell down and trapped a 62 year old man who was trying to make it back to his vehicle after fishing in the reservoir. He was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at Parkview Huntington Hospital.

Wider weather episode

A strong mid level trough and resultant increased wind field interacted with a stationary boundary and moderate instability. A long lived squall line developed across Illinois and moved east into northern Indiana. Numerous reports of trees, tree limbs and power lines were blown down with winds more than 70 mph at times.
