A waterspout was briefly sighted offshore of Captiva.

Moist and unstable southwest flow was established at the surface and aloft. In addition, a series of upper disturbances were moving over the area. When combined with daytime heating and sea breeze boundaries, this allowed for numerous strong to severe thunderstorms to develop through the day and continue into the evening, with damaging winds and a waterspout occurring with the stronger storms.
