A 60 year old man was working outside on a construction job when he collapsed and died of a heat stroke.
Wider weather episode
A large ridge of high pressure both at the surface and aloft allowed for excessively hot temperatures across northwest Louisiana through much of August. Daily afternoon temperatures often climbed above 100 degrees with heat index values climbing between 105 to 110 degrees in the afternoon.
