The Jacksonville Beach Life Guard station performed a total of 6 rip current rescues over the weekend. One near drowning occurred around 8:30 am in the morning at Jacksonville Beach before the life guards were on duty. The woman was rescued by Jacksonville Beach Fire Rescue then taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Persistent onshore flow with near shore winds 15 to 20 knots combined with buildings wells of 3-5 ft with periods of 11 to 15 seconds from distant tropical cyclones produced dangerous rip currents along the north Florida coast over the weekend. Many rip current rescues were done.
