The ASOS sensor recorded intermittent periods of heavy rain. A total of 3.02 inches were recorded during the 24 hour period ending at 12 midnight.

Wider weather episode

An active tropical wave moved across the U.S. Virgin Islands and generated showers and thunderstorms as well as locally heavy rains, gusty winds, and urban flooding across sections of St. Thomas. Parts of Main street were reported underwater on Sunday. Unofficial spotters from West End Fortuna reported 3.5 inches from 6 pm Saturday through Sunday, in addition to 6 inches recorded in the previous 48 hours. NWS ASOS rainfall data for the Saint Thomas airport for the 72 hour period ending on the Sunday 20th at midnight recorded a total of 7.85 inches. Across Saint Croix, the highest 24-hour precipitation total fell at the Airport, where a record 3.94' fell over the 24 hour period ending at midnight on June 20th.
