An estimated wind gust of 60 mph was reported with blowing dust 2 miles north of Columbus.

Wider weather episode

A weak upper level disturbance moved through southern New Mexico in a modestly moist and unstable environment. A weak surface trough was also present which helped aid in thunderstorm development over the lower elevations.
