Event narrative
Flooding was occurring on New Mexico Highway 11 between mile markers 7 and 9. Barricades were put up to stop traffic.
Wider weather episode
A weak upper level disturbance moved through southern New Mexico in a modestly moist and unstable environment. A weak surface trough was also present which helped aid in thunderstorm development over the lower elevations.
