Event narrative
Strong onshore winds to 30 knots created rough seas over the Atlantic waters. A kayaker was capsized by a large wave just offshore Lauderdale-by-the-Sea around 630 PM EDT. The large wave tossed him from his craft and into the rough sea where he drowned. He was pronounced dead at Holy Cross Hospital.

Persistent and strong east winds caused by high pressure north and east of the area produced gusty winds in excess of 30 mph over the Atlantic coastal waters. Wind gusts up to 44 MPH were noted on July 20th.
