Event narrative

Marine spotters reported a waterspout about four miles offshore of Fort Myers Beach.

Wider weather episode

A trough of low pressure was in place across the northern Florida peninsula. Very deep moisture was in place across the area allowing numerous showers and thunderstorms to develop in the unstable atmosphere. Some storms produced a few waterspouts near the coast and some gusty marine winds.
