A wind gust of 61 mph was measured at Harrisonburg.

High pressure over the Atlantic Ocean continued to pump in hot and humid air over the Mid-Atlantic. A series of upper-level disturbances in the jet stream passed through Virginia triggering showers and thunderstorms during this time. There was enough instability from the hot and humid air for some thunderstorms to contain damaging winds during the afternoon and evening hours.
