A wind gust of 36 knots (41 mph) from the south was measured by a Citizen Weather Observer Program automated station on the south end of Cudjoe Bay.

The wider storm

A line of strong thunderstorms moved north from the Atlantic waters, crossing the Middle and Lower Florida Keys. Wind gusts to gale force occurred across a greater-than 40 mile stretch of the Florida Keys.
