A 950 mb low in the northern Bering Sea pushed a strong occluded front across the Nulato Hills. The front combined with southerly flow aloft to produce heavy snowfall across parts of the Nulato Hills. The cooperative weather observer in Kaltag measured 10 inches of snow from 1400AKST on the 27th through 1400AKST on the 28th. The snow was heavy and wet with temperatures near freezing the snow compacted down to approximately 6 inches of snow on the ground by the time the snow ended during the afternoon of the 28th.
