Event narrative

Snowfall of 15 to 18 inches was reported at various sites near Alta and Snowbird, including 9 inches in 6 hours at Alta Lifts.

Wider weather episode

A strong cold front moved across northern Utah during the morning of the 18th. Precipitation rapidly changed to snow down to the valley floors along the Wasatch Front. Widespread snow continued into the overnight hours, before tapering off early on the 19th.
