A 46-year-old Canadian businessman, in town for a conference, drowned at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel beach in Manalapan during an overnight swim. Seas were rough, with rip currents likely occurring along with swells of up to 3 feet.

Swells of 2 to 3 feet from a distant storm in the north Atlantic created ideal rip current conditions along the Palm Beach County coast.
