Wider weather episode

Locally strong winds at Lake Minchumina were reported by a cooperative weather observer. The Lake Minchumia RAWS reported a peak wind gust of 43 kt (49 mph). Small tree limbs were snapped and the mooring lines were broken that were tying down a small plane. The plane was flipped half way over with minimal damage. The wind produced blowing snow that reduced the visibility to one quarter mile or less at times, but the blizzard conditions were highly localized around the lake as the Minchumina AWOS only reported a peak wind gust of 29 kt (33 mph).
