Event narrative

Up to three inches of total snowfall accumulation was reported in Christiana. Other COOP Observers reported between one and one and one half inch averages across other areas of the county. Details concerning the type of individual injuries to the seven individuals were unkown. For this and other portions of the county, this total snowfall accumulation resulted in public and some private primary, secondary, and higher education school closures across the county, along with closures or postponement of other civic engagements across the county for the remainder of that day and into the early morning hours on Monday, December 13th, as travel across roads throughout the county became hazardous due to the accumulating snowfall.

Wider weather episode

As an upper level low pressure system moved across Middle Tennessee during the early morning hours on Sunday, December 12th through, Monday, December 13th, enough moisture was available across the mid state to produce a widespread snowfall accumulation event across the entire area. Total snowfall accumulations ranging from one inch in the Tennessee River Valley to as much as one foot across northern portions of the Cumberland Plateau occurred. This accumulating snowfall resulted in a significant impact to commerce and transportation across all of Middle Tennessee.
