Event narrative

Three to four and a half inches of snow fell across Marion County from this winter storm system. The Indianapolis Star reported that a 51-year old man was killed at the intersection of Carson Avenue and Lindbergh Drive as his vehicle, apparently traveling at a high rate of speed, smashed into a tree after he committed a domestic crime. This accident occurred on roads that were slippery from the morning's snow.

Wider weather episode

On the heels of a cold frontal passage, a strong, closed upper level low pressure system pushed eastward across the Ohio River Valley during the day on the 12th of December. Most of central Indiana saw between one and a half to almost five inches of snow, with the heaviest snow falling in and around the Indianapolis metropolitan area. Numerous vehicle accidents and slide-offs were reported along with a fatality in the Indianapolis area.
