Event narrative

Heavy snow fell across northern Gila December 29th through the 30th. Total snowfall amounts include: Pine and Christopher Creek both had 16, 18 miles east of Payson 12, Star Valley 9, and Payson 6.5-7.3. State Route 87 was closed just south of Payson while a multiple car collision block both north and south lanes of traffic.

Wider weather episode

A strong and extremely cold Pacific storm system moved across Arizona December 29th and 30th. Heavy snow and strong winds produced hazardous weather conditions across much of northern Arizona.
