A wind gust of 43 knots (49 mph) was measured at an automated station at the Big Coppitt Key Fire Station.

Wider weather episode

A squall line preceding a cold front passed southeast through the Florida Keys. Widespread gale-force wind gusts were measured throughout the island chain and surrounding coastal waters. The U.S. Coast Guard reported 15 responses to distressed boaters in a two-hour period, including two damaged vessels.
