Event narrative

Highway department personnel reported several trees downed by non-thunderstorm winds along the foothills....including Tellico Plains and Coker Creek.

Wider weather episode

A deep area of low pressure produced a strong gradient across east East Tennessee resulting in high non-thunderstorm winds over the area. Damaging winds occurred across the higher elevations with gusts as high as 93 mph reported.
