Event narrative

A trained spotter in Kalama, Washington measured 6 inches of new snow between 16:00 PST and 22:00 PST on February 24th. Heavy snow was also reported at Longview with 5 inches of new snow and at Castle Rock with 4 inches of new snow. Interstate 5 was closed north of La Center due to multiple accidents caused by snow and ice during the evening.

Wider weather episode

A second snowfall event occurred over southwest Washington Thursday evening when a deformation band formed over the area.
