The peak gust at Apache Point was 63 mph and the peak gust at High Rolls was 59 mph.
Wider weather episode
A broad area of zonal flow extended across the U.S. with an approaching shortwave trough moving out of Southern California and into Southern New Mexico. This trough combined with an associated cold front to bring strong winds to the eastern slopes and mountain passes of South Central New Mexico.
