Event narrative

RFC personnel reported Ice Jam flooding along the Kuskokwim River starting in Red Devil from an ice jam near Eightmile. An Ice Jam then formed downstream of Crooked Creek causing flooding in that community. The flooding receded the night of May 12th in both communities.

Wider weather episode

Ice jam flooding along the Kuskokwim River at Crooked Creek and Red Devil caused significant damage. Ten homes were destroyed in Crooked Creek and 14 sustained damage. Four homes were damaged in Red Devil.
