Event narrative

Widespread heavy rainfall resulted in many county roads becoming flooded and closed. A vehicle was driven around a barricade and was washed off Opal Road at a low water bridge. Two people died in this vehicle.

Wider weather episode

Periods of showers and thunderstorms resulted in widespread heavy rainfall on the 25th with a frontal boundary extending through northwestern Arkansas and an upper level disturbance approaching the region. These showers and thunderstorms only compounded the already serious flood situation across much of the area. Five flash flood fatalities occurred in northwestern Arkansas on this date as a result of vehicles being driven into flooded areas.
