Event narrative
Heavy rainfall resulted in several roads in this area becoming flooded. A vehicle driven into rapidly flowing flood waters across Highway 265 between Hubbard Road and Onda Mountain Road stalled. The driver exited the vehicle and was washed downstream, drowning in the flood waters. An 11 year old boy survived this incident.
Wider weather episode
Periods of showers and thunderstorms resulted in widespread heavy rainfall on the 25th with a frontal boundary extending through northwestern Arkansas and an upper level disturbance approaching the region. These showers and thunderstorms only compounded the already serious flood situation across much of the area. Five flash flood fatalities occurred in northwestern Arkansas on this date as a result of vehicles being driven into flooded areas.
