A mesonet station at Salinas Peak located 25 miles north-northwest of Northrup Landing reported a peak gust of 88 mph. The Truth or Consequences ASOS reported a peak gust of 58 mph.
The wider storm
A strong cutoff low was located over the Great Basin with a 125 knot jet stream rounding the base of this system and moving into Western New Mexico. Some of these strong winds were able to mix down to the surface and produce wind gusts up to
88 mph in the San Andres Mountains.
