Wider weather episode
Thunderstorms developed along the Atlantic coast seabreeze in south mainland Florida, intersecting with a moisture convergence boundary rotating southward around a large western Atlantic upper-level low pressure area. The general northerly steering flow allowed strong thunderstorms to move south across Florida Bay. Several gale-force wind gusts accompanied the thunderstorms in the vicinity of Marathon.
