A wind gust of 39 knots...45 mph...was measured by the RSOIS sensor at the National Weather Service office in Key West.
Wider weather episode
Southerly steering flow enabled outflow boundaries from thunderstorms along the northern Cuba coastline to produce additional thunderstorm development across the Florida Straits. Localized gale-force wind gusts occurred with the thunderstorms near Key West and the Dry Tortugas.
