An employee of the Winchester Fire Department reported penny size hail at his residence.

A warm front moving north across northern Virginia and a surface trough on the lee side of the Appalachians combined with a warm and unstable airmass to produce scattered showers and thunderstorms. A storm in the City of Winchester became severe, producing large hail.
