Excessive heat between 95 and 105 degrees, along with heat indices in excess of 105 degrees occurred for a couple of days. JFK airport reached 103 degrees on July 22nd, and 102 on the 23rd.

An oppressive hot and humid air mass produced excessive heat that resulted in day time temperatures 95 to 105 degrees with night time lows in the 70s and 80s. Heat indices peaked around 115 degrees during Friday afternoon, July 22.
Prolonged excessive heat led to the death of at least 20 people in Southeast, NY; 19 in New York City (7 in Brooklyn, 6 in the Bronx, 4 in Manhattan, and 2 in Queens) and 1 in Orange County.
